Owen is demonstrating how blood moves throughout the body.

He is modeling the respiratory system and said, “The lungs push blood through your heart and oxygen to your brain. If no blood runs through your body you wouldn’t be able to move or breathe.”

This scientist is using a model named “Chad” to show how the Skeletal System supports to body so it can support the organs needed for survival. It also supports movement. It also stores minerals to produce blood cells.

Maddie created this model to show how waste from the digestive system is removed from our body.. she used classroom items to represent various organs in the Excretory System.

Declan Moriarty created this model to show how muscle tissue works with bone tissue so the human body can perform gross motor skills.

Kellen Cassidy, Garrett Mitchill, and Owen Mitchell created this interactive learning model so their peers can experience the digestive system in action. The group is using colored water to show how our digestive system operates.

The artist who painted these Vans is Dvora Redlich. She is a senior at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT. Mr. Houlton runs a Bonsai club in the spring at HKMS and his students are studying the Human Body System. Trees release oxygen when they use energy from sunlight to make glucose from carbon dioxide and water. Our respiratory system receives oxygen from inhaled air which passes through the alveoli walls and into our blood so a protein called haemoglobin in our red blood cells can carry oxygen around our body.
