Sensory Adaptation with Smell

This group discovered that odors from molecules can overload our senses over time and we lose our ability to smell that particular odor. When a new smell is introduced, it resets our senses and then we can more accurately recognize the original scent. This group used orange peels and coffee. The coffee was used to reset the stimulus so students could again detect the intensity of the orange peels.

I love learning! I'm in a leadership program at UCONN called UCAPP. I teach 6th grade science at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School in Killingworth, CT. I am excited to grow as a teacher and as a leader.
